joni e tada Inspirational Thought from Joni Eareckson TadaWe love this encouraging quote from Disability Ministry Advocate, author, speaker & amazing woman, Joni Eareckson Tada.

“The fact that disabled people hang in there does something for Christians. It’s not about being an inspiration for others, it more than that. . . it’s a mystery. God somehow strengthens others by their faithfulness. They may feel like a burden to others, but God thinks the opposite.

He thinks its necessary for others to take care of the disabled. . . they do more for one’s spiritual well being than can be imagined.

What’s more is that it’s all being credited to the disabled person’s account, per Phillipians 1:25-26. If the disabled person is alone & does not meet others, they must endure for the purpose of teaching the unseen powers, the rulers, & authorities in the heavenly realms about the powerful & all sustaining Lord, (Eph 3:10).”

  1. Melanie Gibson says:

I have a history of epileptic seizures that were not well controlled by medication, and I went through my late 20′s and most of my 30′s trying to pretend I was okay when I really was not. Nowadays I am doing so much better I hardly ever have a seizure, although I still have to be very careful and avoid all the triggers, so I tend to lead a rather dull life, others assume. I think it is fine, I am content now with who I am. The interesting thing is that as I grew closer to the Lord, I got healthier in body and spirit. I sing in my church’s choir and also a smaller contemporary Christian music group made up of younger people who love to praise God. I never thought I would be able to stand up in front of everybody and sing – boy, is that ever a miracle! At first, when I initially moved to this area, I wanted to be stubbornly independent and do as much as I could, until I realized that people need a chance to reach out and help others in their Christian walk, and it seemed as if God had chosen me to be one of the people that could be available for others to minister to if I let them. I had to get rid of a lot of my sense of pride. People wanted to say thank you somehow, and it has all paid itself off into me being able to minister back to them by singing. I couldn’t have imagined any of this, but God certainly could have.
