As we celebrate Memorial Day here in the USA tomorrow, let us not forget why we celebrate it. It is not about “a day off work” or hotdogs on the grill. It is about the sacrifice that many people have made with their lives.
Respectfully, we say “Thank you. . . ”

Thank you Lisa for this so very important lesson in never forgetting what our veterans have and are doing for all of us every day somewhere in the world. Our freedom fighters must never ever be taken for granted or forgotten by any generation, especially our children, grandchildren and great grands. They are our future. People say that so much but it’ s true, always and forever.
My dad fought in ww2 for almost 4 years. We were blessed; he came home, terribly wounded and mangled on the outside, but never showed it , never complained. Just dealt with it and overcame as best he could. He was the bravest man I’ve ever known. We lost him early at age 50 due to his war injuries but God blessed us with the precious years together that we had.
And, Lisa, a few years ago at church we were asked to share a quick moment of what Memorial Day meant to us and I literally said what you state that it’s seems like, for some, it’s just a long weekend off picnic, etc. Nothing in the world wrong with that normally, but how many don’t know or realize the significance of what has been given for them so they can enjoy the many freedoms we have.
I was just telling my husband that I need to write about my dad and have these memories on paper to give to my children and grandchildren and to leave his legacy with them so they will know and remember, not just their father and grandfather, but be educated in what many have done for this country and for them!
This is always a very emotional weekend for me; I cry a lot. And as I get older, have come to believe it is all of our responsibilities to make sure no one ever forgets the sacrifices made .
Sorry so long; hard to say all I have in my heart in a few words. I had such a blessing the other day when I met an86 year young ww2 ver. What an honor!!!!! Praying I get to see him again. I will close with. . . .. .
God’s blessings to all this Memorial Day.
