Flu Trends by Google

usaWhile some of us want to know what the latest news is on “flu trends” others of us are “sick” of hearing about it.

If you do want to know what is going on around the world or in your neighborhood regarding the flu, you may be interested in Google Flu Trends. (Is there anything Google isn’t working on these days?)

It uses “aggregated Google search data to estimate flu activity” in a certain country. This application has an interactive map that, when you put your curser over the screen shot of the map, you can see what “flu intensity” is for the country from ‘Low’ to ‘High’.

Many countries are not currently on the map, but you can find results for North America and continental Europe where flu trends (especially with Swine Flu) are increasing this season.

You can also download Flu Trends Data, which is all of the data concerning flu trends dating back to 2003.
