Lisa had the honor of being interviewed by disabilities advocate, Daniel Vance, earlier this year & just recently the column about Rest Ministries was printed. It is always exciting to see the potential of people that can be reached through announcements, columns, articles & more! Here is an excerpt
“Churches are gradually becoming more receptive to the idea that people with chronic illness or pain may not be physically healed this side of heaven,” said Copen. “Even if healed, it may not be for years, & they need support & encouragement through that journey.” She said many churches often don’t or are unable to respond well to people with chronic illness or pain, in part because the affected person’s needs usually never end. She firmly believes God could heal her anytime He chooses, she said. But if He doesn’t, she will have learned a great deal about trusting in Him while serving others & having to get through each day.
Daniel J. Vance’s weekly newspaper column Disabilities has been published in more than 260 newspapers. Disabilities is the nation’s best-read weekly column about people with disabilities. It’s sent free to newspapers because of corporate sponsor support.
Vance is the editor of Connect Business Magazine. He & his wife homeschool a 14-year-old daughter with spina bifida & a 13-year-old son. A Cincinnati native, he moved in 1995 from Baltimore to Minnesota, where the weather gets plenty cold. Vance speaks to church & civic groups around the country about his personal experience with disability. If you would like information about his being your group’s featured speaker, be sure to email.
Thank you, Daniel!
