“Be still” –who me? Yes, that is what God wants from us–to be still before Him and allow Him to work in our lives.
Be still and know that God is in control. That is hard for me to do and it is something that God is working on in my life. I tend to want to jump in and fix things myself but when I try to do it on my own I always mess things up. Over the last several weeks I have struggled with a flair up of my lupus.
I had been feeling pretty good and able to do a lot of the things I want, need and enjoy doing. Then all of a sudden just walking from the bedroom to the living room felt like I had run a marathon. I wanted someone to do something and make it better right now. I was frustrated why did this have to happen again? Why now? Then in my devotions I read “Be still and know that I am GOD.” Okay, God. I may not understand what is going on or why but I trust you and know that there is a reason.
God knows what is best for me and I need to quiet myself before His throne and allow Him to work in and through me.
Sometimes we think we know what the answer is and jump and try to fix everything, but we usually end up making a mess of the situation and then we turn to God and ask Him to fix it. We need to learn to go to Him and trust Him first in all situations.
Prayer: Lord, continue to work in and through me. Teach me to be still before you and listen to you as you show me what it is you have for me. Thank you for your love and for the peace that comes when we are in the center of your will.
