Today I escaped to my quiet place
I was afraid, I did not see your face.
You say you will always be there,
but it’s hard to believe someone will always care.
I go to church every Sunday,
and start waiting for it the next Monday.
So I guess by now I should have learned,
that You alone have always yearned.
To be the One I come to most,
the one and only, Holy Ghost.
In my fright I did not see,
When you, O Lord, snuck up to me.
When I asked, “Where have you been?”
You replied, “With you, always.”
Kristen Matthews, 17, is a senior in high school and she wrote this poem at the age of 15. She says, “This poem reminds people that God is always here for them, even when we don’t feel Him.”
As those of us who recognize, acknowledge, praise, and give honor and thanks to GOD we know that HE is always in our presence. I am always praying and saying let me find a church that would require less traveling for me and my three grandchildren who are asthmatics. It’s a daily struggle do do the simple things but I keep my eyes on the prize–which is being in accord with JESUS and obeying. i want to share this short poem that just came to me:
The Beauty of Flowers
Do you see how beautiful I am right now
Have you been watching or staring at me
How many colors do I come in, shades,
sizes and what about the aroma I give off
Do you feel happy when looking at me
Please feel free to touch and smell me
I will give you satisfaction, joy, and
a smile and don’t be afraid to share me
with family, friends, and strangers
Take this time to feel me while you can
for one day I will die and I don’t want
you to have any regrets because you
pass me by as if I didn’t exist
