What can you resolve to do, despite how your illness may add twists and turns to your life this year? Shelly shares.
“For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2:2-5)
Oh, the comfort the above scripture gives me! So often it seems that my life is filled with coming to people in weakness with great fear and trembling. Some of them are earthly fears.
How will I afford this treatment? What if my health continues to decline? Am I still a good wife and mother in my illness?
And some are spiritual fears.
How can you possibly use me, Lord? Do You not see that I am damaged goods? What if I don’t know enough to start this discussion? Aren’t You afraid I’ll make You look bad?
But this scripture answers it all. It is the Spirit’s power that my faith must rest on, in all matters.
The Spirit gave us the Word, and the Word gives us light and life. What more need I seek?
This is a new season of fresh beginnings.
. . . Less questions and more answers.
. . . Less doubt and more trust.
. . . Less second-guessing and more first-fruits.
I’m all in.
And so in this season of resolutions, I resolve, as Paul did, to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
Will you join me?
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me as I enter this New Year to move deeper into You. Let me take this opportunity to thank you and to trust You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

What is your New Year resolution to God?
This is “There is Nothing” with Laura Story. As we set resolutions or feel guilty that we aren’t setting them–or that we haven’t yet chosen our “word” for the year, remember that He loves you unconditionally. You won’t be perfect, and that is okay. Salvation and God’s love is not based on our performance but simply because you are His child. -Lisa
