“Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, ‘My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God’? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:27-31).
I love going on a journey. Don’t get me wrong– I love going, but I’m not so fond of all the preparation it takes for both me and my husband. In order for us to go anywhere we have to pack our clothes, food, and the most important item theses days–our pill boxes and extra pills if we will be away more than a week.
With my own chronic sciatica and fibromyalgia, and my hubby’s diabetes and heart problems, we would have every excuse to just stay home. We love traveling together though and meeting new people along the way. So we present our plans to God, pray for His guidance and strength, and we go.
Returning home presents its challenges too. Loads of laundry, unpacking the fifth-wheel, restocking groceries–I’m exhausted! That’s where God reminds me to put my hope in Him. After we’ve rested we are renewed with strength once again.
This time we have new memories of wonderful people and places.
The simple and the complicated, the distant and the near, the stressful and the easy–they are the places of dependence on one greater and wiser and stronger than me. I choose to rely on Him in and for everything. There is no other place of rest and peace.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for filling each day with reminders of where our strength comes from. Thank You for knowing us and loving us. Thank You for going ahead of us to prepare our way and light our way so can let go of fear and apprehension. Thank You for Jesus and for Your precious Holy Spirit. Amen.

Is there something you’d like to do? Is there somewhere you’d like to go? Does life seem too much to bear? Lay it before the God who loves you and see what He thinks.
Don’t give up, don’t choose to stop living. We all have season in our life when a positive attitude is not going to help us physically get to the family activities or do things we want to do. And sometimes God allows these seasons to last for months or even years, But if you have any choice in the matter! choose life! Find some way to find purpose. It likely is in a place or a way you never would have expected.
