How does one dig deep and find true faith to cross this path of chronic illness? Karlton explains.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).
On the television series “Ice Road Truckers” big rigs that are fully loaded must cross frozen lakes. Essentially the snow is scraped off of the ice and road crews declare them safe for the trucks to drive across. Common sense says you can not drive a truck with a twenty ton load across ice, but the drivers have faith that the roads declared “safe” by the road crews are drivable.
Living with illness is like driving across an ice road. You must have confidence that the Lord is steering your “truck” and that He will get you across the dangerous lake of your life.
When you have a disease or chronic illnesses you face many dangerous roads and incredibly difficult paths you must cross. You need wisdom, you need to rely upon the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the Word of God to help you cross the difficult roads ahead.
I have had doctor’s steer me toward dangerous, unsafe roads. And I have steered myself wrong on occasion, but the Lord has never taken me down a road that I could not cross with His help.
Every day brings challenges. Some paths seem too difficult to cross. Yet if we ask the Lord to help us, and listen to His guiding voice, we can safely cross the difficult and dangerous roads we face with our challenging health issues.
Call upon the Lord to prepare the way before you, and to help you through the many twists and turns and difficult crossings in your life.
Prayer: Dear Lord, the way looks difficult and treacherous, help us to get safely across the road until we reach the other side. Amen.

This is Josh Wilson “Before The Morning.” Oh, how I love this song and hope you will take a moment to listen. It acknowledges all those hurts we carry around with us (especially in our heart) and reminds us of how God will fade them to memory someday and give us a reason to continue to believe and sing our praises to Him. I hope you don’t miss this one. -Lisa
Karlton really loved your example here. My husband and I have watched this show often; now each time I see it I will be reminded how God so graciously protects me from the icey waters of doubt and steadys me on the slick roads of chronic illness. Tks so much.
Be blessed. Di

I have seen that show too. I need this message more than you know Karlton! It’s a HUGE help as our family prepare to put our house on the market & move to another house that God is choosing for us….. that’s chemically safe!! It feels like we’re manoeuvring a huge truck!! Gotta smile at it all. ๐ God bless. Lotsoluv Kerryn
