By Lisa Copen A walk in closet I have not walked into for . . . years. My husband uses most of it, but my clothes--in about 10 different sizes--sit on the bars. The wire baskets hold old t-shirts. An Old Navy shirt, size small, mocks me with the year 2004 on it. The day previously I started throwing them into bags. I have become sick of the clutter all over my house and have been purging for months. But this closet has overwhelmed me. I had no plans to take care of the closet this weekend. . . and I have discovered that this works best for me. This way, any effort is a step in the right direction, but I don't have to use up all my energy on it. I can pace myself. We are in a constant battle with ourselves as we look at the magazines and then read 1 Samuel 16:7 – “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Obviously, we can put too much “weight” (the irony, huh?) on trying to look gorgeous and constantly feel like we don’t measure up. But is it a bad thing to want to go get a little trim on our hair or wash some of that gray out so at least part of our body doesn’t feel older than it is? No, I don’t think so. There is a new product out called PajamaJeans. The New York Daily News has an article about it & made a video as well where a reporter goes out onto the street & asks people "Would you wear these?" The average person says yes, that only in a certain environment, such as during a long plane ride. However, for those of us who live with chronic illness who may not leave the house during your typical day --& yet may also want to actually get out of our PJs, this may be a product that you are interested in.
