Volunteer Profile: Marney Finds Encouraging Others Encourages Her Too!

marney

If you are a part of our Rest Ministries Sunroom social network, odds are you have seen the name "Marney" pop up a lot! Marney is our number one "commenter" and "encourager" with the most posts of over 2500 people. I recently asked her to share a bit more about herself that I could share with the Rest Ministries family. My ministry verse is 2 Corinthians 1:3,4: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God (Who is the Source) of every comfort (consolation and encouragement) Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction) so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with … [Read more...]

Friends, I am eager to connect with you! We have just survived Spring Break at my home and before I know it, it will be summer vacation! I have a lot of "irons in fire" so to speak, but want to start melting them together and seeing what God is going to form. And I would love to talk with you. I am putting together a schedule of phone conferences in the coming weeks with volunteers and want to make sure that if you are a Sunroom moderator, a long-term volunteer, a HopeKeepers leader, or you fill another leadership role, that I have you on my schedule! Please fill out the form here and don't forget to give me your phone number! I will contact you soon when I have some sense of the schedule and your best available time. Thanks so … [Read more...]

If anyone opens the door I will come in,’?” —Florence Littauer, Blow Away the Black Clouds … [Read more...]

volunteer-h&s

Too often we find ourselves sitting in our home, wishing we could go & do something to feel better, yet not knowing if at the end of the day we will feel better-- or worse. Although you may think that volunteering will drain all your energy, you may find that it actually can ease physical pain. And sometimes, even if you are in more physical pain, you may discover that the mental & spiritual joy you gained still makes the physical pain worth it! Volunteering has been found to: Enhance self-esteem through the "good feelings" derived from helping others & feeling worthwhile & needed. Distract one from one's aches & pains, providing motivation for rehabilitation & activity, helping overcome social isolation, & providing a sense of … [Read more...]

CAlling all Voluteers! (Or Those Interested In Volunteering)

Hi, Friends! We have loads of volunteers & I have to admit that it's gotten past me as some of you have joined or changed positions. One of the things I'd like to see happen while I am "in a cast" (post surgery next week) is for volunteer to check in & make sure that they are listed. I have set up a "wiki" at http://restministriesvolunteers.wetpaint.com You don't have to join to edit it. Just go & see if it lists a volunteer position you currently have (or if you see one without a name you can let me know you're interested!) There are some of you here who are greeters in the Sunroom for example who I don't have listed. Go ahead & just click "edit" & list your name in the right place. Many of you are part of the Encouragers Club. … [Read more...]
